What is a triboelectric series?

A triboelectric series is the order of materials which result in causing either a positive or negative charge when rubbed on an object. Rabbits fur made objects very positive because it is prone to taking electrons which results in giving the atoms it contacts a positive charge. Saram wrap is more prone to give an atom a negative charge because it gives off electrons.

MORE POSITIVE (more apt to gain an electron)

* rabbit's fur
* glass
* mica
* nylon
* wool
* cat's fur
* silk
* paper
* cotton
* wood
* acrylic
* cellophane tape
* polystyrene
* polyethylene
* rubber balloon
* saran wrap

MORE NEGATIVE (more apt to lose an electron)
